What is Wildhood Anyway?
Hey there!
I’m so glad you’ve found your way here! I’m Sara, the creator of Wildhood Photo. I'm a wife to my favourite person in the world and a mom to four amazing kids; three energetic boys and one sweet girl who keeps up with them every step of the way. Life is busy (and a little loud), but I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
Outside of chasing kids and chasing light, you can usually find me laughing with my girlfriends, or snuggling my favourite Golden Retriever Sunshine. My headphones are almost always tuned into True Crime podcasts or 90's Country and I always, always have time for a coffee (or 3). This blog is my way to share it all — my photography journey, the families I get to meet, and even little bits of motherhood along the way. It’s a space for stories, beautiful images, and maybe even some behind-the-scenes chaos.
With 4 kids running in all directions photography has always been my way of slowing things down. With a camera in my hands, I can freeze those little everyday moments, the messy hair, the belly laughs, or the way my kids still hold my hand when they think no one’s looking. Over time, that love for capturing my family’s life has grown into a passion for helping other families hold on to their own special moments too.
One thing I often get asked is "What is Wildhood?" or "Where did the name come from?" To put it simply it came from my kids. They (like most kids) love being outside, getting dirty, catching bugs and climbing trees. I used to joke that they weren't having a childhood they were having a Wildhood, and thus the name was born. To me Wildhood is all those beautiful imperfect moments that make up childhood. It's muddy toes, tangled hair, and laughing 'til your sides hurt. It’s childhood as it’s meant to be, wild, free, and beautifully untamed. My goal is to help you capture those fleeting moments of wonder, where kids are free to roam, explore, and just be... With a few posed smiles for the camera in there too.
Thanks for joining me I'm so glad you're here!
xo Sara
